Excellent talk by Andre Stitt about his new exhibition “Astro-Civics” at Studio 18 (usually home to artist Kevin Sinnott). He talked about Post-Modernism, moving from oils to acrylics , the urban architecture of the 60’s and 70’s, the subject of “new towns“, and a little of the politics that made them possible and also allowed them to fall into decay.
During the Q&A Andre was asked the signifincance of the objects that appear to be floating above the cityscapes and decided to leave it to the viewer to decide.
They could be heavenly bodies, angels or alien invaders, droids and a representation of a future surveilance city scape. Who knows? The exhibition ends on the 1st October. You decide.
Studio 18 is owned and run by the artist Kevin Sinnott.
